Devon Byrnes is a Biokineticist with a passion for exercise physiology and nutritional strategies to improve endurance performance. As a PhD researcher at the University of Cape Town's Health, Physical Activity, Lifestyle and Sport Research Centre (HPALS), Devon’s focus is on the interplay between fats and carbohydrates and fuel utilization during endurance running, with a view to improved performance and understanding the underlying mechanisms. Having investigated the impact of ketones on performance for her MSc degree, Devon has since delved into the potential benefits of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) on endurance running. Currently, she serves as a lecturer and research consultant at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, where she contributes to cutting-edge research and mentoring of future exercise professionals.
